Description:
“We welcome applications from candidates specializing in comparative and critical approaches to the study of East Asian popular culture and media, with a focus on Japan. We are particularly interested in applicants whose research considers the transnational circulation of media forms that emerge from nation-based and language-specific cultures and societies – e.g. anime, manga, gaming, and music. Especially welcome is work with interdisciplinary approaches to race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, religion, indigeneity, migration, and diaspora studies. A digital approach to humanities, either methodologically or as research involving digital media, is encouraged. Candidates should possess research proficiency in Japanese.”
