“The position is open to scholars working on any African American religious traditions that incorporate Africana elements of science, health, and/or healing, and to scholars focusing on religion, racial Blackness, science, and/or health in the United States. Areas of particular interest include African American practices of science, health, or healing represented in narratives, rituals, histories, or art. Methodological approaches to the study of religion may include bio-critical scientific analysis, science and technology studies, history of science, critical quantitative calculations, critical race studies, social justice studies, holistic health practices, Afropessimist studies, Anthropocene studies, ethnography, material culture, liberation theologies, or womanist theories, among others.”
