“”We seek a scholar whose research, teaching and practice center on the intersection between the digital and visual. The ideal candidate would be a scholar whose work sits at the intersection of the digital or the visual paying attention to both – singularly and together. We seek candidates who are concerned with the wide and significant debates on Black representation and its many forms, genres, theoretical, conceptual, and practical turns, phases, debates, dialogues, and conversations.” “Areas of interests include but are not limited to: Digital Humanities; Visual Cultures; Algorithmic Logics and Racism; Critical Theory and Digital/Visual Culture; Black Feminist Digital/Visual Studies; Black Performativity and the Digital/Visual; Black Media Studies; Black Cultural Studies; Black Film Studies; Black Contemporary Art; Digital Art; Critical Fabulation; Afrofuturism; Utopian and Dystopian Futures; Philosophies and Problems of Curation; Afropessimism and the Digital/Visual.” Candidates should have a “PhD in Africana Studies, Black Studies, African and African Diasporic Studies, American Studies or a cognate degree with a focus in any of the above” by the time of appointment.”
