Williams College Assistant Professorship in LATINX ARTS

Deadline:

October 15

Length/Track:

Tenure track

Description:

“Defining Latinx Arts broadly and interdisciplinarily, areas of interest including Performance Studies, Visual and Material Cultures, Multimedia Art, Contemporary Art Histories, Film, Dance, and Theatre. We also welcome applications that bridge Latinx Arts and other interdisciplinary areas, such as Digital Humanities; or Science, Technology and Society studies; and/or other approaches, such as attention to embodied practices.” “In addition to interdisciplinarity, we seek a colleague who approaches Latinx Arts in ways that enrich the priorities of the Latina/o/x Studies Program. Our program embraces approaches that are comparative, relational, and inter-racial/ethnic, considering the breadth of national-origin groups categorized as Latinx, including Afro-Latinidades and Latinx Indigeneities, as well as the broader racial/ethnic context that has shaped the U.S. historically and in the present. In recognition of the many distinct countries of origin and ongoing connections to those countries of origin, the program also centers global, hemispheric, and transnational dynamics, ranging from geopolitics and globalized economies to lived experiences. In a field that has been at the forefront of exploring intersectionality, we seek a colleague who is attentive to complexities, including race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, dis/ability, and religion.”
